This 'Teacherly Response' aims to explore and respond to the recently published bi- and multilingual disciplinary literacies (BMDL) model from the perspective of teachers. The BMDL model outlines five interconnected perspectives on the different literacies that are part of education. For CLIL teachers to be able to use this model to inform their practice, we have tried to provide a more practical interpretation of the different literacies to encourage teachers to make connections between the everyday demands and activities of school-based education and the disciplinary literacies that inform school subjects.
