Craig Neville of Working Group 4 has developed a planning tool and self-direct CPD support that is designed to support primary teachers in creating clear, engaging and inclusive science learning through the development of high quality learning objectives. It helps teachers to:

• Pinpoint the core science concept or skill they’re teaching.

• Identify the key language learners will need to access and express their understanding.

• Include learners’ home languages to support inclusion and develop plurilingual skills.

• Integrate digital tools to enhance engagement and allow learners to record and share their learning creatively.

The goal is to help learners develop multilingual disciplinary literacies—that is, to learn science and the language(s) of science in more than one language, using digital tools to support and communicate their understanding.
