This two-part podcast series shares insights from the international Training School for Teachers and Researchers held at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia (23–26 September), organised as part of COST Action CA21114. The event brought together CLIL practitioners and researchers from across Europe to explore how bi- and multilingual disciplinary literacies can be developed through teaching, learning, and research.

Across the training, participants engaged with three key strands: Cognitive Discourse Functions and the language of thinking; the role of extramural digital practices in shaping CLIL learning and teaching; and the use of multisemiotic resources—such as diagrams, models, and simulations—in classroom meaning-making. Teachers and researchers collaborated to connect theory with practice and to design pedagogical approaches that support deeper disciplinary understanding across languages.

In Episode 1, teachers reflect on their experiences and discuss how the training informs classroom practice.

In Part 1 of this two-episode series, we explore the international Training School for Teachers and Researchers held at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia (23–26 September) as part of COST Action CA21114. Bringing together CLIL practitioners and researchers, the event focused on advancing bi- and multilingual disciplinary literacies through three key strands: Cognitive Discourse Functions, extramural digital learning practices, and the use of multisemiotic resources in meaning-making. This episode features a teachers’ roundtable reflecting on how these ideas translate into classroom practice and how research can inform richer, more integrated CLIL pedagogy.
