Podcast Series: Reflections from the Perugia CLIL Training SchoolThis two-part podcast series shares insights from the international Training School for Teachers and Researchers held at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia (23–26 September), organised as part of COST Action CA21114. The event brought together CLIL practitioners and researchers from across Europe to explore how bi- and multilingual disciplinary literacies can be developed through teaching, learning, and research.

Across the training, participants engaged with three key strands: Cognitive Discourse Functions and the language of thinking; the role of extramural digital practices in shaping CLIL learning and teaching; and the use of multisemiotic resources—such as diagrams, models, and simulations—in classroom meaning-making. Teachers and researchers collaborated to connect theory with practice and to design pedagogical approaches that support deeper disciplinary understanding across languages.

In Episode 2, researchers share their perspectives on the concepts, methodologies, and future directions emerging from the collaboration.

Part 2 turns to the researchers’ roundtable from the Perugia Training School, continuing the conversation around COST Action CA21114 and its exploration of bi- and multilingual disciplinary literacies in CLIL education. Researchers share their perspectives on investigating classroom meaning-making, connecting theory with practice, and collaborating with teachers to better understand how language, cognition, and multimodal resources shape learning across disciplines. This episode offers insight into the research foundations guiding innovative CLIL pedagogies and the future directions emerging from this international collaboration.
